About Paige

Clarinetist

Paige Stafford is a professional clarinetist who shares sensitive and thoughtful performances with audiences as an orchestral, chamber, and solo artist. Based in Bloomington, Indiana, she enjoys performing with ensembles across the Midwest and beyond and is passionate about connecting with musicians and audiences alike through music.

Paige is the second clarinetist of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra in Indiana and the Lima Symphony Orchestra in Ohio. She has also performed with the Toldeo Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, the latter including performances with her graduate school professor, undergraduate school professor, and her middle school band director (15 years after he first taught her how to play the clarinet!). As a

chamber musician, Paige is passionate about performing works for mixed ensembles, performing with numerous clarinet, string, and piano trios and with Ivory Winds, a flute, clarinet, bassoon, horn, and piano quintet.

Originally from Jamestown NY, Paige started playing the piano in elementary school because she looked up to her dad and older brother who played bass and guitar in the church worship team. She was excited to try a wind band instrument in fifth grade because her dad played trombone in high school, and she discovered that she loved the clarinet. It was more natural and comfortable for her to play than all other instruments she tried, including piano. Since then, Paige has received an Artist Diploma and MM in clarinet from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Eli Eban, and a BM in Music Performance and BA in

Music History from Ohio Northern University, where she studied with Georg Klaas. She also attended the Sarasota Music Festival, Kent Blossom Music Festival, and Buffet Crampon USA Summer Clarinet Academy in her university years, meeting exceptional young musicians and learning from world renowned faculty including clarinetists Anthony McGill, Charles Neidich, and Philippe Cuper, among many others. During her studies, Paige discovered that playing clarinet piqued her intellectual interests, brought her to new places all around the world, helped

her connect with life-long friends, and pushed her to be her best self.

When she isn’t practicing clarinet or driving to her next rehearsal, Paige enjoys brush lettering, crocheting, playing cute video games like Animal Crossing, and streaming TV dramas and cooking competitions.
