With her background in a variety of artistic mediums, composer/producer Andy Blomfelt (she/they) draws in audiences with her captivating take on musical storytelling. Her works show an obvious influence of progressive rock, indie dance, progressive jazz, and drum corps that she grew up listening to, and span multiple mediums including indie electronic albums, concert productions, and even animations.
Andy grew up in Northern Colorado to the sound of her grandfather playing classic jazz standards on guitar, and followed him around the state as he toured with his band. She picked up the sounds and began writing music at 11 years old, and continued on to play clarinet through high school and college. In 2016, she joined The Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps as a drum major.
For her education, Andy studied with Carter Pann at the University of Colorado Boulder, and Dr. James David at Colorado State University. Her concert works have been performed across the United States, including the Colorado State University Wind Ensemble, The Quarthot Clarinet Quartet, Dr. Chris Smith at Brigham Young University, and the LightBreak clarinet duo. She performs electronic music under a separate alias, and has put out multiple studio EPs.
Andy recently moved to Seattle in 2023, where she enjoys playing chess at local clubs, programming and doing other kinds of web design, and blues dancing!
